Insulin regulates the process of converting sugar into energy and effectively provides energy to body cells. However, in type 2 diabetes, a person’s body fails to produce insulin. Obesity makes you more likely to become diabetic.

When body cells don’t get sufficient energy, clots form on the inside walls of blood vessels. It reduces blood flow to your brain and other organs and increases the risk of a stroke.

How to Minimize the Risk of a Stroke

A healthy lifestyle can keep you fit and thereby, reduce the risk of a stroke.

Regular exercise can help you lose excess weight. Physical activities such as walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, and yoga boost your endurance and help you maintain a healthy weight.

Develop a healthy diet plan to stay fit and fine. Refrain from consuming a high amount of oily food. Low-fat and high fiber meals are good for your health and keep you safe from obesity. Take fruits, vegetables, and nuts to effectively lower your BMI and reduce the risk of a stroke.

Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking are extremely harmful to your health and maximize the risk of a stroke. You should try to avoid alcohol consumption and smoking to live a healthy life.

Recovery Process

Despite taking preventive measures, it’s not always easy to prevent a stroke. Obese people may be moved to a rehabilitation center after they are treated at a medical facility for a stroke. The staff at the rehab center helps them lose weight through different exercises so as to boost their recovery.
