Living on High Tech Battery Power for Heart Patients

Health Power’s President, Dr. Norma Goodwin, interviews Dr. Ken Stein, Chief Medical Officer of Rhythm Management at Boston Scientific, and Emily, a patient who is currently living with her third heart battery at age 33.  For most of us, having a regular heartbeat never crosses our minds.  However, every month about 10, 000 Americans with heart failure or an arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), have a defibrillator implanted to monitor and control their heart rhythm.

As a result of increasing high tech methods at Boston Scientific, the third battery device of Emily, a very costly device, is lasting much longer than the first two.  Website information is provided.
